By far our most important unit will be the Defensive pairing of Phillips and Volchenkov. Assuming that this is our first line of defense, other top line are going to have a hard time against these two and will probably think twice about going into the corners. Expect both of these guys to get a lot of ice time and see time on every PK. I think Bobby Orr's goal scoring will be safe for another year, but these two defensive defense men will sacrifice their bodies by being one of the most physical players in the league. Expect both players to get about 5 goals and 15 assist this year, but a respectful +/-.
Do you see Phillips and Volchenkov playing side by side this year? If not who would be a better fit? Should Murray be looking for another top 4 D-Man?
